Woody Guthrie – This Land Is Your Land

Woody Guthrie wrote This Land is Your Land. He died of Hunington’s disease. He was well known for his folk music that focused on themes of anti-fascism and inspired people both politically and musically. He had a sticker on his guitar that said this machine kills fascists. This was Woody Guthrie in 1943.

Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger were good friends and held many of the same values.

I have a poster on my wall of a Woody Guthrie quote that my sister had given me. It’s a little beat up as it has traveled with me through many moves, as I have lived in many different states.

I grew up singing This Land Is Your Land and as I mentioned in a previous post, Pete Seeger sang it with Bruce Springsteen at President Barak Obama’s inauguration.

I love this song and remade it into my own version.
